Resultant of two forces

Aim - To compare the resultant of two forces with the single force which produces the same effect

           Instructions
  • Measure the size of the two forces (F1 & F2) being applied to the elastic band
  • Measure the angle that these two forces make with the horizontal (θ1 & θ2)
  • Replace the two forces with a single horizontal force
  • Note the size of the single force (FT)
  • Compare the sum of F1cosθ1 and  F2cosθ2  with FT
