Aim
- To calculate the acceleration of a lift
Instructions |
- Use the scales to determine the weight in newtons (N) and the mass in kilograms (kg) of
the student when the lift is stationary
- Press the button the send the lift upwards
- Note the maximum reading on the scales as the lift accelerates upwards
- Note the reading as the lift is travelling at constant speed
- Note the minimum reading as the lift decelerates to a halt
- Repeat the experiment for the downwards journey of the lift
- Use the results to calculate the acceleration of the lift at the three stages of each
journey
